It’s been named as one of the great stag destinations for many years now and there is a reason for it. Riga’s nightlife provides a fantastic night for the groom and his mates.
The reason why Riga has become so popular over the years is because it’s very cheap for a decent hotel and flights. Since the drunken stag parties have been flying over, there has been a few incidents which have resulted in people going to the local hospital.
However, people who are planning a drunken weekend in Riga shouldn’t worry too much. You just have to be careful and respect your surroundings. You may have heard about the beautiful girls in Riga and it isn’t a myth. Rumour has it that girls outnumber guys by 4 to 1!
When picking your hotel, we would recommend that you pick a hotel in the Old Town. It maybe named old but this is where all the bars are. You can stay in the New Town as it’s only a 10-15 walk to the Old Town.
The only benefit of being in the New Town of Riga is that you are nearer to the Skyline bar. As the name suggests this bar is in the sky.
Situated on the 26th floor of the 4 star Radisson Blu Hotel Latvija, this place offers incredible views of Riga, so it is worth visiting in the day as well as at night.
If you are going at night we would recommend going early as later on at night you will be in a long queue.
The great thing about Riga is that you can go all year round as stags flock there January to December. In the summer you get the opportunity to have a drink in the beer gardens and also get to go on the very popular terraces.
However, in the other seasons you still get busy bars and nightclubs and you can even go bobsledding!
Nightclubs and Bars
Riga has a wide range of bars. You have quite a few Irish pubs, Latvian bars, dance bars, rock bars, chill out lounges and some stylish bars. Oh and don’t forget the karaoke bars!
Here are some bars we would recommend: Aussie Backpackers Pub, Funny Fox bar, Moloney’s pub, Star lounge bar and Rock café. Recommended night clubs include Studio 69, LA Rocca and Coyote fly.
If you are planning to go to a strip club in Riga than you may want to think again. You may have heard that going into strip club in Riga my result into you getting ripped off and having a violent conversation with a bouncer.
We would advise you not to go into any strip club or bars where you can’t see inside. Better to be safe than sorry!
Things to Do
Whilst trying to recover from your hangover, you could spend the daytime doing some activities. In the day we would recommend visiting the sights Riga has to offer.
The types of things to visit are the Freedom Monument, St Peter’s Church, St Gertrude Old Church and much more.
If you want to do something else then dont worry. Here are a few things you can do: Shooting range, bobsled (winter months only), dog sledding (winter months only), go karting, clay pigeon, paintballing, vertical wind tunnel, bungee jumping, hire a beer bike and hire a snowmobile (winter months only).
