Nightlife in Prague

Prague has a quality reputation of having an unbelievable nightlife. With Czech bars, Irish bars, cocktail bars, rock bars, jazz clubs and nightclubs, you’re sure to have a good night.

Prague is quite well known for its beer. It tastes great, is very strong and more importantly, very cheap.

Czech people know how to drink. They are known for their absinthe. It’s not uncommon for a waiter or bartender to ask you if you want a shot of absinthe rather than a beer!

If you’re looking to buy a bottle of absinthe then you can. There are loads of shops selling bottles of this strong green stuff!

The place where most of the great nightlife is in the Old Town. Just like Riga in Latvia, it is advised to stay in the Old Town rather than the New Town. We also advise you to go to Prague for a long weekend.

Friday and Saturday are the most popular nights out as you have locals and many tourists. The other days of the week aren’t as great or busy as Friday or Saturday, but you can have a good night.

Prague’s nightlife is popular all year round, but the busiest time is in the summer months.

Nightclubs and Bars

There are so many options when choosing where to go at night in Prague. We have listed quite a few bars and clubs below but all are very good. We have listed the very best bars to go to.

There are more good bars to go to but if we had listed them all, we would have a very long page! Most of the bars described below are in the Old Town and quite near each other.

The first great nightclub to talk about in Prague is called Duplex. This is a rooftop nightclub situated on Wenceslas Square.

During the day you can chill out on the terrace looking at Wenceslas Square and the National Museum. However, during the night it is one of the best party locations in Prague.

There are many bars in Prague that are underground. These underground bars are fun places to party and drink. Two of the best underground bars to go into are Chapeau Rouge and U Sudu.

Other great underground bars to consider are Double Trouble (highly recommend), Bataloin, Popo Cafe and Deja Vu. Non underground bars are still decent here. One ideal bar for a stag party is the Coyote Bar (they have girls dancing on the bar and a fire show).

Sasazu nightclub is an incredible place to go. It holds over 2,500 party people. This nightclub has had many top DJs including Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Public Enemy and many more. When you’re looking for a place to go in Prague this is one of the best.

You may have heard about this next nightclub, known as the largest nightclub in central Europe. The nightclub we are talking about is Karlovy Lazne.

This five storey club is located next to the river. Each floor has a different theme and vibe. Two of the best floors are the 80/90’s floor and hip hop floor.

Other nightclubs that are very good are Retro, Lucerna, Cross Club, Roxy Club, M1 Lounge (small but fun) and Mecca Club.

Many stag dos and groups of lads like to come to Prague for the cheap beer and strip clubs. Most of the strip clubs are safe and they around Wenceslas Square. But even though they are safer than some cities you should still be sensible.

Things to Do

There is so much sightseeing to do in this historic city. Places worth seeing are Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Prague Castle, the Astronomical clock, St Vitus Cathedral and the Old Jewish Cemetery. Most of the sightseeing can be done quickly by hiring some segways.

When you have finished sightseeing you can do a range of activities such as shooting, paintballing, go karting, quad biking, tour a brewery, bubble football, ice hockey, curling, hovercrafting and much more. One the best activities to do whilst in Prague is the beer spa!
